Computer Art- digital self portraits

November 21st: Today we learned some computer skills.
Using the Photobooth (a program that uses the laptop's built in camera to take a picture), we took a self portrait and then manipulated it in Photoshop, learning some tools and then getting to experiment!
To warm up we played with the Collage Machine from the National Gallery of Art website: http://www.nga.gov/kids/

Self Portraits - invisible & visible

November 14: Today we drew self portraits. Once using the "blind contour" method: drawing with white crayon on white paper and then discovering the lines with watercolor. And then again drawing from observation.
We looked at artists such as Kerry James Marshall, Van Gogh and Francis Bacon to get inspired.

Sihouettes

Today we traced each others silhouettes on the wall. First we found images from magazines and planned how we would pose in the shape of that object.
For inspiration we looked at ipod ads and the dance group Pilobolus!
